Okay, I have a lot of feelings about this particular scene. I’d watched Gilmore Girls for a long time (like while it was originally airing on the WB) and I thought Rory/Dean were the cutest thing ever. I was probably ten years old at this point, and obsessed with reading, so Rory was practically my idol and I wanted a boyfriend like Dean (because, honestly, he was like a Ken doll). Then in rolls this new guy who steals her books (SO HE CAN PUT NOTES IN IT. GOD. I CAN’T.) and it just happens to be “Howl” which is one of my favorite poems now, and he’s quintessential bad boy. He understands her references. OLIVER TWIST, PEOPLE. Dean never understood her like Jess does from the first moment they meet. It’s just there. The lines, guys. “Well, what is much?” I DIE. God. Then one of my favorite GG lines (because I call people Dodger all the damn time, and no one ever gets it), “Goodnight, Dodger.” “Dodger?” “Figure it out.” “Oliver Twist.” AND THE SMILES. OTP. THEY ARE THE MOST OTP TO OTP. OTP BEFORE THERE WERE OTPS.

Come on, do I really have to explain this one? She goes to visit him in New York, people. She skips school and goes to see him and who even cares about Dean at this point, okay? I mean really, this is Rory/Jess at its best.

Jess: You do, huh?
Rory: Oh, yeah. When I was getting a locker for my back pack at the bus stop, there was this guy and he was just standing there, staring at me. And instead of ignoring him I just fixed him with a really withering stare.
Jess: Now, that I gotta see.
Rory: No.
Jess: Aw, come on. Let me see your withering stare!
Rory: It’s dangerous. I could hurt you.
Jess: I’ve been hurt before.
Rory: No.
Jess: I’m disappointed.
